3 questions before buying your school planners

3 questions to ask yourself before buying your school’s planners.

1. What is our school’s purchasing criteria?

a) Price
If it’s price, make sure your chosen suppliers quote on a like-for-like basis. eg some school planner suppliers include artwork in their costs, some don’t. Some include delivery, some don’t. Be specific with your needs and check all the quotes you receive have quoted on the same basis.

b) Quality and durability
There are varying degrees of quality for school planners, from flimsy stapled books to robust A5 spiral bound with protective covers- of course the latter will last the school year much better.

c) Curriculum information and additional features
Most school planner suppliers offer different information and features, or variations on a theme – however we’ve recently found that many schools are looking to go “back to basics” rather than filling their homework planners with lots of content that isn’t being used by their students.

d) Overall best value
This is what we offer all schools- a combination of competitive prices, durable quality, optional features to enhance your school planners – using either our bespoke or standard school diary range

2. Should we ask our students what type of school planner they’d like?
This can provide you with a positive and negative response – on the one hand it’s important your students are getting the best use out of their school homework diaries, however if you give them a choice of samples to consider, they’ll likely go for the most colourful, regardless of whether they’re fit for purpose. We suggest you find out what your students want as a “wish list” and then incorporate this into your overall school planner purchasing strategy.

3. Do we want our school homework diaries to be used effectively?
We’ve found if a homework diary is too colourful and cluttered with animation and sponsorship logos, it’s not taken as seriously as a school planner which has been tailored to a school’s brand. Take the opportunity to communicate your school’s aspirations by including your motto/strapline on each page . This can be included using our branded and bespoke school planner service.
